Decatur Human Services survives largely on the income raised through the efforts of our volunteers, as well as donations from individuals and companies in the Decatur area. In the past we have received funds from the Federal Emergency Food and Shelter Assistance program, but this program must be renewed by Congress each year, and it is unclear whether these funds will be available for 2013, and if so at what level.
The organization's volunteers make possible two main fundraising efforts, the bi-weekly soup suppers and the Fourth of July Chicken Dinner. Specific information on these events is available on the Events page.
Individual and corporate donations increase the amount of good we can do in the community – donations of food, clothing, and other necessary goods as well as cash. If you are interested in making a donation, please contact the office at 269-423-6474, stop by Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 9:00 am until Noon, or click our "Donate" button below. Decatur Human Services is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and donations are tax-deductible. Checks may be made out to Decatur Human Services and mailed to the organization at 102 South Phelps St., Decatur, MI 49045.
