In view of the recent COVID surge, the Food Pantry is once again providing boxes of food curbside on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 am to noon. Shoppers can come to the front door on Phelps St. to request their food and non-food items, then drive around to the back door to collect their boxes.

We are making some changes and improvements at the building on East Delaware that we have been calling the Clothing Center. We plan to re-open in April, carrying mostly emergency need items ... small household items, bedding, linens, etc.

Decatur Human Services was first organized in Decatur, Michigan, in 1987. Our main purpose is to help the needy and we exist mostly on money we make through the efforts of our volunteers.

Our creed is that we were organized to promote and co-ordinate distribution of emergency assistance to people of all ages, without regard to race, religion, sex or ethnic origin. Our main emphasis is on providing food and other assistance on a short-term basis. Our service area is the village of Decatur and the townships of Decatur and Hamilton in Van Buren County, Michigan.

"What we are doing is just a drop in the ocean, but I think the ocean would be less because of that missing drop."
